Birth of a Church

Sunday, September 15, 2013, Crossroad Baptist Church of Arizona held its charter service uniting Crossroad Baptist Church of Buckeye and Gateway Baptist Church of Avondale. Charter001Charter002Charter003We praise God for His working in bringing two churches together into one unified body!

Last summer, Gateway’s pastor resigned and recommended that they consider the possibility of merging with our church. It has been a long process over the past year, but we are thankful that Gateway and Crossroad have decided to unite as one!Charter005Charter014Charter009

When we moved to Arizona four years ago, CBC had already chartered, but this time we were able to become charter members of the newly formed church.Charter018Charter019Charter020We had 42 people sign the charter, and then we celebrated with a lunch.Charter021Charter022

Now that we have grown in number and assets, we are seeking to move to a location with 24/7 access which would ease the work load and allow for centralized mid-week ministry opportunities. Gateway’s padded chairs are a welcome relief from the folding chairs we’ve been sitting on for years, but they do require more time and effort in set-up and tear down. We’re planning to move a little east of our current meeting location–the Verrado Middle School–in order to better accommodate our members.

Praise God for building His church in Buckeye, Arizona!
