Waiting Behind Closed Doors

Just wanted to give you an update on our job search. Thank you, everyone, for praying for us. We have been struggling with discouragement, especially during weeks when we have no job interviews. Of course we know that God is constant in His love for us and goodness to us, but we are humans after all.

I am thankful for the closed doors that God has used to direct us toward His will. Several weeks ago,  Stephen was seriously considering accepting a part-time position that had been offered to him but found out that it was no longer available. While we were saddened, the Lord has allowed Stephen to have a second interview for a network engineer position. We are hopeful that a job offer may come his way this next week.

A week ago last Thursday, I received a letter in the mail stating that I was not selected for the executive assistant position for which I had interviewed twice. It’s great to know for sure that that job was not where I should be working. I’m very thankful to have had the opportunity to make it to the second round of interviews as it was a great learning experience. Now it looks as though I may be hired for a temporary data entry position beginning in January. Two staffing agencies have also submitted my resume for two different temp positions. We’ll see which one the Lord has for me!

We are very much looking forward to the day when the door opens instead of closes, and the answer is “yes” instead of “no.” A huge weight will be lifted off our shoulders once we have jobs! Until then, we’ll just keep looking, praying, and serving.
