Blog search added

All blog entries and comments are now searchable using the site search tool at the top. I installed (and “tweaked”:http://www.joomladeveloping.org/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,49/topic,141.msg1155#msg1155/ slightly) the “JD-Wordpress Search Mambot”:http://www.zerolight.co.uk/web/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,227/func,select/id,3/. Feel free to test it out and let me know what you think.

Google Notebook

Have you ever been browsing the web and come across a poem, article, anecdote, quotation, etc. you wanted to save to a central, searchable location instead of bookmarking the whole page or saving the info to a document file? Google’s new “Notebook”:http://www.google.com/notebook/ app has you covered. It’s actually very similar in concept to one of… Read More Google Notebook

The spammers win this round . . .

Blue Security, the anti-spam company I blogged about “a while back”:http://themoodysideoflife.com/component/option,com_jd-wp/Itemid,36/p,56/, has “closed its doors”:http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/05/16/AR2006051601873.html, fearing it was on the verge of starting a full-fledged internet war that it simply didn’t have the infrastructure to handle after seeing the collateral damage caused by the spammers’ latest round of counterattacks. It’s unfortunate it ended this way,… Read More The spammers win this round . . .

BBC gets the wrong Guy

The BBC made a “big mistake”:http://www.mailonsunday.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=386136&in_page_id=1770&in_page_id=1770 when they accidentally interviewed Congolese immigrant and taxi driver Guy Goma in place of IT expert Guy Kewney on-air last week. The look on the wrong Guy’s face is priceless, but he gamely attempts to answer the questions anyway. Make sure to check out the video–it’s hilarious.

Ahmadinejad letter

Ahmadinejad’s ponderous, reproachful screed to President Bush can be found “here”:http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/world/documents/ahmadinejad0509.pdf. The nut rants on and on for 18 pages chalk full of conspiracy theories, assorted grievances, hypocritical moralizing and pseudo-juvenile taunting while neglecting to mention the substance of the current confrontation–Iran’s illegal and destabilizing nuclear program. It’s a real wonder that anyone in the… Read More Ahmadinejad letter

Mainstream “Christianity”: religion or brand name?

“This article”:http://www.townhall.com/opinion/columns/NathanaelBlake/2006/05/12/197221.html at Towhall.com, while clearly not written from the perspective of a “fundamentalist”:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fundamentalist_Christianity, offers a devastating critique of the mainstream Christian music scene (and by extension, the methods and stated intentions of the entire New Evangelical movement). I’m not endorsing everything in the article, but it’s encouraging to see someone from outside the usual… Read More Mainstream “Christianity”: religion or brand name?

McCain at Liberty

Presidential hopeful Senator John McCain’s “commencement speech”:http://mccain.senate.gov/index.cfm?fuseaction=NewsCenter.ViewSpeech&Content_id=1732 at Liberty University was pretty good–certainly better than anyone who was around during the 2000 election primaries would have had any reason to guess at the time.

Google ventures into 3D modeling

If you’ve been paying attention to the news you’ve probably seen announcements for a couple of new Google products, including “Google Trends”:http://www.google.com/trends.
