Independence Day

A family in our church usually puts together a big Fourth of July picnic complete with a swimming pool, football on the front lawn, a sing-along, and fireworks. This year they added something new. The BBQ was entitled “Plate of Grace.” The family provided all the food for everyone as their “plate of grace” to us. Then we were given the opportunity to donate a “plate of grace” to a needy family in the church. What a unique opportunity to serve others. That’s practical Christianity played out in daily life.

I took along my dulcimer and autoharp for the sing-along. I played the autoharp while two other girls joined me on the keyboard and violin. I’m scheduled to play a dulcimer duet in church next month with a friend of mine. We’ll see what happens!
